The Shamrock

The Shamrock (a three leafed clover) is a symbol of Ireland. Before the Christians era, it was a sacred plant of the Druids of Ireland because it formed a triad. The plant was later used by St. Patrick in the fifth century to illustrate the doctrine of the Trinity. The English word comes from Irish 'seamrog', meaning young clover.
